The resources sector is considered the ‘engine room’ of the Australian economy and Cummins is well positioned to be the preferred engine in the engine room.

In the latest issue of Cummins Commentary, a ‘Pilbara Power’ feature looks at Cummins’ extensive involvement in mining at Fortescue’s Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek mines in WA.

Cummins QSK78 generator sets are the heart of the new power station at Christmas Creek, while big bore Cummins engines power a range of other equipment including excavators, surface miners, drills, roadtrains, dewatering generator sets and Custom Paks.

The latest issue also features articles on two of the biggest excavators in the world. These 4,000 hp machines are the Komatsu PC8000 operating in the Super Pit in Kalgoorlie, and the Liebherr R9800 at the Burton coal mine in the Bowen Basin.
